LONDON, March 28, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Repeated cyber attacks by hackers have destroyed the most anticipated NFT release of the year so far – The Shifters

The first NFT collectibles sold incredibly well and were expected to be one of the biggest NFT categories of 2022.

But repeated FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) attacks on Discord had ruined trust in digital collectibles that are beautiful graphic artifacts of a fictional “species of sentient, living robotic creatures.”

However, despite these attacks, main shifter character Vortex still managed to sell with over $1m in sales.

Shifters creator Andrew Brown AKA Doc Troller said: The level of FUD attacks on the all-new NFT is now out of control. There is an uncontrollable crowd of influencers who enjoy taking down new lines of collectibles.

“We spent months creating these NFTs and working on the most amazing high-resolution artwork and then hundreds of thousands of dollars, only to be taken online by people spreading harmful misinformation about them.

“The toxic nature of the NFT marketplace is now making it nearly impossible for new launches of collectibles to be successful.”

The hackers managed to steal over $2 million by creating a fake website for The Shifters and wide channels to trick unsuspecting investors into buying fake NFTs.

They DM in large numbers to inform Discord members that the sale is open and then take payment through an illegitimate Mint link.

Andrew Brown said: “This is really disturbing; we have tried to inform our potential customers about legitimate channels to buy genuine Shifters NFTs, but hackers have taken advantage of some less experienced investors and they Have managed to buy from fake sites. We estimate that there have been fraudulent transactions worth approximately $2 million of counterfeit shifters. We are making every effort to educate customers on the right way to buy them and hopefully No one else will be deceived by these hackers.”
